These high quality rugs are available at extremely low prices. These rugs will be the talking point of any room, either on the floor or hanging on a wall, and at these prices they are so affordable.
These rugs are made in and around the city of Mashad, the capital of the Persian province of Khorassan.
There are many grades of handmade rugs produced in the Persian province of Khorassan, ranging from medium to fine. All, however, are very sturdy and indestructible. The rugs woven inside of the cities, such as Kashmar, Mashad, Mood, Sabzevar, and Birjand are usually better quality than rugs woven by the nomads in the area.
Almost all of these Persian rugs have a pile of all wool, and a foundation (warp and weft) of cotton. In extremely rare cases, silk may be used in these rugs as part of the pile, foundation, or indeed the entire carpet might be made of silk. This is very unlikely unless you are dealing with much older pieces from a couple of centuries ago. The wool, however, is very lustrous and soft and is exclusive to Khorassan. This fine wool, along with beautiful designs and genius craftsmanship, combine to produce these exquisite Persian rugs. |

Elam |
"Nomadic rugs are produced by nomads and semi-nomadic tribes whose lifestyles have traditionally revolved around breeding sheep and weaving. Little has changed throughout the centuries, and the rugs made today by this group remain true to their ancestor's rug-weaving methods and designs." |

Semi-Antique |
"Antique rugs (100 years or older) are rated highest in their price catergory, though semi-antiques of 50 or 60 years of age are also highly prized. The muted colors and softer ""hand"" of an antique rug contributes to its value." |
